Core plugs need to be cleaned to:
1. Remove native oil, mud filtrates, evaporated salts and connate water prior to porosity and permeability analysis and single-phase SCAL experiments (e.g. formation factor and brine permeability).
2. Condition or render the core water wet prior to certain two-phase SCAL experiments (primary drainage capillary pressure) and prior to wettability conditioning (e.g. restoration).
